Craig and Rose supports exhibition about Arts and Crafts artist, Hugh Green

Hugh Green art

We are delighted to support the “Hugh Green’s Stirlingshire” exhibition at The Stirling Smith Art Gallery & Museum.

'Hugh Green's Stirlingshire' brings to light the best works of the Bridge of Allan based artist and designer, under one roof at the Stirling Smith Gallery. The exhibitions explores Hugh Green's links with the Stirlingshire Arts & Crafts movement and his wallpaper, textile and linoleum designs are being shown together with his art.

A Friend of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Hugh Green was awarded a medal for design in 1915 by the Glasgow School of Art.  Hugh Green went on to become President of the Stirling Circle of the Arts & Crafts.

Hugh Green’s work as an interior decorator was also significant. He was the local agent for Craig & Rose (est.1829), Britain’s oldest paint manufacturers and providers of paint for the Forth Bridge.

The exhibition opened on the 28th August and runs until 2nd November 2014.
