Upcycle with Vintage Soft Wax

Vintage soft wax

Introducing a new addition to the Authentic Period Colours range!

Uses

Soft Wax is perfect for use over Chalky Emulsion to protect and enhance your upcycled furniture. It’s easy to apply and dries to a deep lasting shine which repels water and protects against scuffing and stains.  Soft Wax is water repellent but not recommended for areas with lots of water.

Preparation

Ensure the surface that you are waxing is clean, dry, smooth and free from dust. If necessary sand the surface to smooth out any bumps or scrapes. If applying over Chalky Emulsion, ensure that the surface has been given two coats of paint and has been left to dry for an adequate amount of time. To achieve a vintage, aged look, you can also sand some of the edges.

Application

Apply using either a soft paint brush or a lint free cloth. Work the wax into the paint, or grain if applying directly to wood, a little at a time, making sure not to apply too much. If applying in a cold temperature you may benefit from heating the wax slightly to soften first. Once the surface is covered, leave to dry for ten minutes and then buff the surface to a shine using a fresh clean cloth, removing any excess wax as you work. Leave the wax to dry for fifteen minutes before moving or using the furniture. For a greater shine, further applications can be applied in the same way after rubbing down with soft to medium wire wool.  Vintage wax can be reapplied over time to enhance protection and finish and provide a greater shine.
