The Forgotten Spaces

There are plenty of places throughout our homes that get less attention than others.  They may be hidden from view a lot of the time or serve as very functional areas of the home. By giving them a little consideration and a lick of paint, it's possible to not only make better use of the space but to also add a touch of style too.  When we set Jen (@crack_the_shutters on Instagram) the task of taking on our Unsame Your Home challenge, she immediately set about creating a concept for her kitchen storage cupboard that would see it be transformed from cluttered and unloved to 'the pantry of dreams'.

From Unloved Cupboard to 'The Pantry of Dreams'

After spotting a picture in a home interest magazine of shelves painted in tonal pastels, Jen had a session with a Craig & Rose Colour Consultant to explore what shades would work for her project.  Jen's home is full of sophisticated and muted tones where hints of dynamic on-trend colours are used alongside timeless details and her signature 'hacks' which make her home a wonderful combination of stylish comfort and unique design.

As you can see, this is a simple concept but incredibly effective and acts as a wonderful backdrop against food storage jars, drinkware and of course, your favourite selection of wines and spirits.  Bring on the party!

And if you're wondering, Jen used our 1829 Collection Eggshell finish across the shelving and walls.  Exactly the right choice for this job as it's washable and hard-wearing with an elegant low-sheen.

The Colours

This selection of tonal pastels range from a subtle peach, sophisticated levels blush and pink through to muted blue and green tones.  They all have a greyed off quality to them meaning they sit side-by-side really comfortably and create a super-stylish rainbow palette which could easily be picked up across many different projects.
