Craig & Rose, one of the UK’s oldest premium paint companies, has unveiled their dedicated showroom in Stockbridge, Edinburgh.

Situated in the heart of Stockbridge, the showroom is less than two miles from the original Craig & Rose factory in Leith, where the company was founded back in 1829.

Established by two young Scottish entrepreneurs James Craig & Hugh Rose, the firm’s reputation for quality paints and coatings spread swiftly throughout the UK. In those days paint was milled, to grind the base raw materials that came from all over the world. Where competitors ground their materials twice, Craig & Rose were known for triple grinding their raw materials in their high tech factory (of its time, see below image).

Craig & Rose won the tender to paint the iconic Forth Bridge in the 1880s and provided the paint for over 100 years. The bridge is today a UNESCO World Heritage site and is regarded as a marvel of engineering.

The showroom at Deanhaugh Street in Stockbridge opens its doors to the public for the first time on 21st May 2018. In store you will find the full 1829 Vintage Colour Collection, a curated palette of vintage colours from the Craig & Rose archive, and a wall of colour, where budding decorators and interior designers can see how the colours would look in situ and collect samples.

The store also stocks the Artisan Effects Range, from the unique Copper Patina and Rust Effect paints to the on-trend Concrete Effect paint and Glitter Glazes.

For expert advice on your own design project, customers can also find out more in store about a bespoke colour consultancy service.

Come along to see us in store from 21st May 2018, and join us for our consumer launch party on Saturday 26th May for some coffee and macaroons, to chat to a colour consultant or take part in some upcycling.
